Our Preschool is a community of people who by their everyday work wish to serve the child and its parents. We acknowledge the fact that small children deserve being treated with the same respect as we would show to their parents and expect from them. We will try to be an example in terms of politeness, prudence and proper behaviour in every situation.
We believe that intelligence is not established at the moment of birth and that human potential is unlimited. We know that children learn through acting, so we encourage them to get to know the world on their own.
Our mission is to create conditions and possibilities of development for the children in a specially prepared environment, so that they are able to develop their creative potential as well as build a solid foundation for further development and life in the modern world. We want to provide the child with opportunities to develop interpersonal skills in contacts with peers and adults.
We are guided by the pedagogy of Maria Montessori, Ph.D., who treats the work that must be done by the child in the growing-up process with great respect. ‘Help me do it by myself’ – these words, which became the motto of Maria Montessori, are a guideline on how to support the child in its development for us.
By creating an English-speaking environment during play, meals, walks and in the form of lessons, we want to provide the children with the possibility to learn the language that is a key to the modern world in a natural way.
OUR OBJECTIVE IS:
To support the development of the child, so that:
it is able to make choices on its own
it grows up in contact with reality and not its substitute or vision
it grows up in appreciation of tidiness
it does not experience negative rivalry
it is able to conform to social principles and norms due to its self-discipline and not under external compulsion
it grows up in self-esteem, regardless of punishments, rewards and assessment of the teacher
it grows up with respect for the work of others
it develops the feeling of order, concentration, coordination and independence
The educational program, with elements of Montessori pedagogy, realised by us, allows the children to experience the joy of learning while at the same time supporting the development of self-esteem. We realise all the objectives provided in the applicable core curriculum of preschool education, determined by the Ministry of National Education.
The realised education program is based on the assumptions of Maria Montessori’s pedagogy and covers 5 areas: practical life, sensorial activities, language, mathematics and culture. We implement the program of bilingual classes, thanks to which English will be the same source of communication between the child and the teacher as Polish. Moreover, we propose artistic, musical, cooking and scientific workshops. The Preschool works in cooperation with a psychologist and a speech therapist.
The educational program of the Preschool is based on Christian values that are deeply rooted in our cultural tradition. It is them that we refer our work and our educational actions to.

IN OXFORD PRESCHOOL
Children have an advantage over adults in learning foreign languages. The preschoolers have better flexibility of speech organs, spontaneity, lack of fear of speaking, ability to adjust themselves to new situations quickly, eagerness to take risk, curiosity about the world, joy in experimenting, confidence and activeness and at the same time, unlimited free time. Children at the preschool age are able to learn the language without the analysis of its grammar system and inherently reject a formal approach to learning. Learning takes place through play with other children, through the context of the situation.
It is also the easiest to learn correct pronunciation in a foreign language at the preschool age. Later, the impact of the native language and linguistic habits are much stronger and the so-called ‘accent-free period’ discontinues.
Our Preschool possesses and uses an abundant set of diversified teaching materials in the field of teaching English to preschool children. The teachers organise the classes in such a way that the teaching process is an interesting discovery and an exciting adventure in a friendly atmosphere. At the same time, they take advantage of the enthusiasm of the children, humour and play. The children learn English, listen regularly to it and eagerly learn more without delving into complicated linguistic issues unnecessarily.
By creating an English-speaking environment, we provide children with the possibility to learn the language naturally.
MONTESSORI AT OXFORD PRE SCHOOL
There are a lot of reasons, for which we have based the preschool education on the pedagogy of Maria Montessori. Montessori method allows and makes it easier for the children to acquire numerous practical and social skills. Thanks to it, the children acquire self-esteem and a conviction that they are able to learn new skills and solve problems. Montessori method prepares for independent thinking, engagement in what is being done and completion of started work. It teaches that the ideas of the children are valuable and that their decisions are important. It also teaches acceptance of responsibility for own actions and remedy of mistakes if necessary.
The children acquire communication skills and interaction with others, of being a leader but also of being a part of a team. They learn violence-free behaviour and peaceful solution of conflicts. Montessori education tries to show the children that they belong to this world, that they are a part of something bigger than them. It makes them realize that every life is valuable and purposeful as well as that it is necessary to care about the world surrounding us.
Apart from the obvious advantages of Montessori pedagogy in the field of development of fine motor skills in the area of practical life and the perfection of the senses in the area of sensorial activities, we have been really fascinated by the area of mathematics. Before the child proceeds to digits and abstraction, it has the possibility to exercise with concrete things, inter alia with rods, spindles, tokens or golden beads.
Maria Montessori places sensitivity to writing and reading between 3 and 6 years of age. In this period, the child is able to think symbolically, i.e. it is interested in signs and their meaning, similarly to words and their sense. Introduction to writing in the area of language takes place at the most favourable moment, when the child is about 4 years old. Exercises preparing for writing are aimed at practicing manual skills, accuracy and movement coordination.
Furthermore, the area of cultural studies and space education is a unique introduction to studying geography, biology, history, geology, astronomy, physics and chemistry!
